More than 30 supporters donated over $10,000 to the restore Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte’s fleet for full service to the community and protect the vehicles from future incidents that would interrupt service.

“These gifts not only help us return to serving neighbors in need more quickly,” said Executive Director Beth Morrison, “but they also help prevent further interruptions in the future. It’s a blessing to see the community recognize the value of critical repairs and accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners in Greater Charlotte.”

Critical home repair and accessibility modification services were interrupted in the early morning on Oct. 29 after someone vandalized and stole from the two vans the construction team uses to provide repairs. This act followed a similar incident in December of last year, when a trailer full of tools was stolen.

To repair the broken windows, replace what was stolen, and build a secure structure to store our vehicles in our night to prevent similar incidents in the future, RTGC asked the community for $5,000. Individuals and corporate partners showcased their belief in and support of the necessary work RTGC does to serve low-income homeowners by committing more than 200% of the fundraising goal.

In a combination of cash and in-kind donations from 35 supporters, $10,402 was raised to restore RTGC to full service to the community and protect its vehicles from future break-ins.
