Service Vans Vandalized and Items Stolen Over Weekend, RTGC Pauses Repairs

Over the weekend, Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte’s service vans were vandalized, and items were stolen. At around 3:30 a.m. on Oct. 29, perpetrators broke windows of two service vans and stole construction tools from them. RTGC is still completing an inventory to assess all the items stolen.

These vans are the lifeline of RTGC’s mission to repair homes, revitalize communities, and rebuild lives, as our construction team uses them to provide critical home repairs and accessibility modifications for neighbors in need in Greater Charlotte. Our services have been paused until we are able to restore the vans we use to serve the community.

This act of vandalism and theft follows a similar crime committed against RTGC in 2022, when thieves stole our trailer full of items used to complete critical home repairs and accessibility modifications.

With fundraising support to quickly restore our fleet, RTCG will be able to quickly return to the community.

We are asking supporters to help us raise $5,000, which will be used to repair the broken windows, replace the stolen tools, and build a secure cage to lock our service vehicles in every night. These funds will restore our fleet, allow us to return to the community, and prevent these crimes from interrupting our services in the future.
