RTGC Leadership Shares Expertise at the Rebuilding Together Summit in Long Beach

RTGC leadership traveled to Long Beach from October 22 to October 26 for the annual Rebuilding Together Summit, a national gathering focused on repair, housing stability, and community impact. The Summit brought together affiliates from across the country, giving RTGC an opportunity to share its work and contribute to conversations shaping the future of the field.

Executive Director Beth Morrison North co led a roundtable discussion on the value of becoming a licensed general contractor. Licensing strengthens repair agencies by improving project oversight, expanding the repairs they can deliver, and increasing access to financial resources. It also allows organizations to bid on government contracts, which creates new pathways to fund repairs and serve more families.

Director of Development and Communications Shereese Floyd presented on asset framed storytelling and how it strengthens trust, dignity, and donor engagement. The session highlighted the responsibility repair organizations carry when sharing homeowner stories and the shifts required to move away from deficit based narratives.

Director of Construction Carrie Black and Program and Operations Manager Kiara Booker joined the Summit to engage with peers and deepen connections across the affiliate network. Participation in the Summit ensures RTGC continues to bring national insights back to Charlotte as it grows its regional footprint and refines its approach to safe and healthy housing.

RTGC’s involvement at the Summit reinforces its connection to the wider Rebuilding Together network, and its commitment to practices that elevate community voice and construction excellence.
