Sunday marks a major milestone in Las Vegas’ sports history. For the first time, the city will host the Super Bowl. It is a first for Rebuilding Together, too, with Kickoff to Rebuild, a Super Bowl-sanctioned event, coming to this year’s host city.

Rebuilding Together, alongside a bevy of volunteers, will help transform the lives of neighbors in need by partnering with Lowe's, the Official Home Improvement Sponsor of the National Football League (NFL), to repair homes and help revitalize the Valley View neighborhood in Henderson, a short drive from the festivities surrounding the championship game.

Valley View, established in 1954, is more than 575 acres in size and primarily consists of single-family homes, many showing signs of deterioration. Amid the affordable housing crisis, some homeowners in the community are unable to maintain their homes but want to remain in place and pass their homes on to their children. Kickoff to Rebuild will address urgent home repairs for an older couple, a single mother of three, a veteran, and others who have lived in their homes for decades and cannot make repairs on their own.

As the local affiliate of Rebuilding Together, we are proud to host this year’s Kickoff to Rebuild. We will bring together volunteers, local contractors and community members to provide essential repairs for six homes that include replacing roofs, windows and doors, upgrading bathrooms, installing new water heaters, and making landscaping improvements. The repairs will be completed at no cost to the homeowners.

Together, these projects will help these neighbors live in their homes safely, while supporting economic security and independence by preserving affordable housing and generational wealth. The neighborhood will benefit, as well, with two community projects on Feb. 9 – a fresh coat of paint for the gymnasium at the local Boys & Girls Club and tree trimming throughout the neighborhood.

This is the 29th year Rebuilding Together has hosted Kickoff to Rebuild, which has made improvements to more than 176 homes, engaged more than 5,200 volunteers and invested $6 million for communities in need.

In addition to Lowe’s, other sponsors and community partners making this year’s Kickoff to Rebuild possible include CreditOne Bank, ADT, Affordable Tree Service, City of Henderson, Republic Services, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada’s John C. Kish Club.
