Neighbors in the Trades: Expanding Our Contractor Network for Critical Home Repairs

RTGC welcomed local contractors to the Rebuild Center powered by Lowe’s for Neighbors in the Trades, a focused session designed to introduce our work, build new relationships, and expand our network of skilled tradespeople. The event gave participants a walkthrough of the Rebuild Center and a clear view of how RTGC scopes, schedules, and manages repairs across the region.

Contractors learned how our projects are funded through city, county, and foundation partners, creating a steady year-round pipeline of work in five counties. The discussion highlighted the repair needs we see most often, including HVAC, roofing, crawl spaces, and electrical issues. These repairs protect older adults, veterans, and families who rely on our programs to remain safe in their homes.

Neighbors in the Trades also served as an open invitation to join our subcontractor network. Contractors who partner with RTGC receive predictable scopes of work, clear communication, and opportunities to support repairs that preserve affordable housing in communities facing rising displacement pressures.

Those interested in working with RTGC can join the network by emailing Director of Construction Carrie Black at carrie@rebuildingtogetherclt.org.

Here are the requirements for joining our network.

This session is the first of several designed to grow the pool of skilled contractors needed to meet the increasing demand for safe and healthy housing across the Greater Charlotte region.
