Our Impact
Continuing to share the impact of RTGC’s repair projects, the Our Impact section shares three stories.
NASCAR for the Community — Coca-Cola Consolidated, NASCAR, and Charlotte Motor Speedway teamed up with RTGC to thank Army veteran Deborah Stewart, delivering critical home repairs, a ride in the Coca-Cola 600 pace car, and more.
My Sister’s House — RTGC’s She Builds program, which provides women-focused community spaces with needed critical repairs, completed its first project at My Sister’s House.
Community Engagement Award — RTGC was honored with the Excellence in Community Engagement Award at Summit 2023, the national Rebuilding Together conference. The award recognized our work in the Hidden Valley neighborhood.
Our Finances
As part of its commitment to transparency, this section of the Annual Report shares the Statement of Financial Position and the Statement of Activities for RTGC as of June 30, 2024. As of that date, the organization’s total liabilities and net assets is $1,461,929. Its total expenses in 2023-24 was $1,625,152, and its total revenue and support was $2,234,491.
Over the past five years, RTGC has experienced tremendous growth, reflecting its commitment to meeting the needs of the Greater Charlotte community. Revenue has increased nearly fourfold, enabling the organization to expand from a small team of two to a dedicated staff of 15, significantly enhancing the capacity to serve. What began as a focus on one neighborhood at a time has evolved into a service area encompassing five counties and several focus neighborhoods, allowing RTGC to make an even greater impact on more lives and strengthen more communities than ever before.
Finally, featured in the Our Finances section is The Revolving Repair Fund, an internal fund introduced in 2023-24 to cover the upfront costs of critical home repair projects. While RTGC has access to government grants for the direct project costs, these programs often operate on reimbursements, which requires significant capital. In years past, the organization had to wait for reimbursements before beginning new projects. The Revolving Repair Fund increases the efficiency and efficacy of RTGC’s services, and it ensures that more low-income families are getting the help they need more quickly.
Our Affiliate
In the final section of the Annual Report, RTGC shares information about how people like you can become [Re]Builders — those invested in helping neighbors in need in their communities.
More than 2.6 million homeowners nationwide live in deteriorating, physically inadequate homes that threaten their health and safety. An aging population, veterans with disabilities returning home, and a lack of equity in underserved communities are creating a housing atmosphere where the services we provide are greatly needed. RTGC’s work preserves critical affordable housing opportunities and stabilizes and revitalizes neighborhoods. By collaborating with other mission-driven nonprofits, local and federal government agencies, skilled trades associations, and community advocacy groups, this organization can become a stronger community revitalization partner and increase the impact of our work in Greater Charlotte. By working with volunteers and by investing in communities, RTGC improve the lives of our neighbors in need by increasing the safety and health of their homes, building economic development opportunities, and revitalizing our communities. RTGC relies upon the generosity of donors to carry out our work, and we can’t do it without you. By joining our work, you can become an investment partner in your community.
