How would you describe what you do for RTGC?

I level the playing field for underprivileged homeowners by repairing their homes to make them safe, comfortable, and healthy to live in.

What tool are you?

I’m an oscillating tool. It has multiple functions, is fully adaptive, and can cut through anything … with the right blade and set up, of course!

What does home mean to you?

Home is a place where you can find comfort and relief from all your outside troubles. It’s a forever accessible escape.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the Greater Charlotte area?

Explore. Charlotte’s always growing, and there’s always something new to try on a corner.

What’s your favorite movie?

The Cat in the Hat. I know it word for word. It’s a stellar movie! I will die on this hill.

Which actor would you want to play you in a movie?

David Attenborough. He’s such an iconic narrator, and he travels the world for documentaries.

What are some of your favorite hobbies?

Gardening, practicing my carpentry, and watching documentaries.

Why do you think it’s important for people to get involved with RTGC?

It’s a chance to give back and fight against gentrification. You can give someone the chance to enjoy their home as much as you enjoy yours.

What’s been your journey in the construction trades?

I began interning as a field engineer with a large general contractor here in Charlotte. I watched and was a part of the building of Charlotte’s skyline. Then I worked my way into the nonprofit workforce repairing computers. Then, because of a past teacher, I found RTGC and have loved every second since.

What would you like to tell a woman interested in getting involved in construction?

You have every right to be here just as everyone else. You don’t need to be an exception to the ever-changing construction world. You just have to be you and be here.
