Meet Director of Operations Kamaria Clifton
Get to know Director of Operations Kamaria Clifton. Kamaria has been with Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte for one year. In her role at RTGC, Kamaria does a lot of work behind the scenes to assess, manage, and optimize RTGC’s finances, human resources, and grant reporting.
How many years have you been in the Greater Charlotte area?
Twenty-eight. I was born and raised in Charlotte! Yes, that makes me a unicorn!
What tool are you?
I’m a clamp. I’m really good at keeping teams together!
What does home mean to you?
Home means a space where you can retreat to at the end of the day where you are safe, authentically yourself, and surrounded by people you love.
What’s your favorite thing to do in the Greater Charlotte area?
I love attending artistic and cultural events. Whether it's sightseeing murals and public art, watching a musical at Blumenthal, or attending a Latin dance night, I’m always up for a new adventure!
What’s your favorite book?
My favorite book is “The Time In Between,” by Maria Duenas.
Who would play you in a movie?
Beyonce and I are share a birthday, so we’re basically twins. But I think Emma Watson and I match more on a personality level, so I’ll go with her.
What are some of your favorite hobbies?
I volunteer teaching breathwork and meditation to college students. I also love Latin dance, cooking, hiking, and curling up with a good book!
Why do you think it’s important for people to get involved with RTGC?
Being a Charlotte native, I’ve watched how quickly our City has changed over the years. Unfortunately, there are so many families who cannot keep up with the cost of these changes and are living in unsafe conditions. They are faced with the choice of living in a home that is harming their health or being forced to move to somewhere else that they can’t afford. Getting involved with RTGC is so impactful, because it allows these families to stay in their homes and communities with safe and healthy living conditions. While its important to welcome the newcomers into Charlotte, we can’t forget about the people who have been calling Charlotte home for decades and preserving the communities that make Charlotte what it is today!
