Rebuilding Together, the national organization, started with the simple act of neighbors helping neighbors. In 1973, a small group of people in Midland, Texas, volunteered their time and skills to rehabilitate the homes of their neighbors. In 1988, the national office for Rebuilding Together opened. RTGC was formed in 2010 as a volunteer affiliate and completed a handful of homes every year until 2018, when it became a full-time organization. Last year, we completed projects at 35 homes in the Greater Charlotte area.
