RTGC Announces May 3 Application Deadline for Mecklenburg County Residents

Due to the demand of neighbors in need in Mecklenburg County, Rebuilding Together of Greater Charlotte has put into effect a deadline of Friday, May 3 for Mecklenburg County residents to complete an application for our services.

Four North Mecklenburg County neighborhoods are exceptions to the deadline, so residents in Davidson West, East Catawba, Pottstown, and Smithville may continue to apply for critical home repair and accessibility modification services through RTGC.

The decision to close applications on May 3 for Mecklenburg County residents with exceptions for those four neighborhoods has come after a careful consideration of our resources and capacity to serve low-income homeowners in those areas. The number of applications we have received in Mecklenburg County from homeowners eligible for services will exhaust our home repair capacity for the remainder of 2024.

“By setting this particular application deadline, we will be able to more quickly serve homeowners who have completed our application already,” said Director of Construction Nikki Quick.

We will reevaluate the application process and our capacity to serve all Mecklenburg County residents in January 2025.

“As an organization, we remain committed to repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives,” said Executive Director Beth Morrison. “Implementing this deadline ensures that we can more efficiently provide safe and healthy homes for neighbors in need.”

Residents who would like to be notified when our applications open again in Mecklenburg County should complete the form below.

Applications for the four other counties we serve (Cabarrus, Gaston, Iredell, and Union) will remain open during this time.
