House of Hazards: Bringing Hidden Home Risks to Life at The [Re]Build Center Powered by Lowe’s

Visitors joined RTGC on October 30 for House of Hazards, an open house that guided guests through stations highlighting the hidden issues that weaken older homes such as lead, asbestos, faulty wiring, moisture, and fire risks that quietly grow more dangerous when ignored.

The experience allowed guests to move beyond brochures and hear directly from our construction team about the issues we correct every day. Fire spooks, electrical gremlins, and water leaks were explained through real examples, giving people a clear look at how small hazards escalate into health and safety threats. The format gave attendees an interactive way to understand our mission rather than observe it from a distance.

House of Hazards also introduced the community to The [Re]Build Center Powered by Lowe’s. This new space houses our workshops, volunteer trainings, and home maintenance classes. Visitors were able to see the environment where homeowners, volunteers, and corporate groups will learn the skills that prevent injuries and reduce long term repair costs.

The event also tested a new direction for RTGC. House of Hazards is expected to evolve into an annual fundraising event that blends learning, storytelling, and the hands on components that make our mission real for the public.
